.:. sport / Monza Formula 1
Friday, August 31 through Sunday, September 2, 2018
Fri 11-12:30am and 3-4:30pm; Sat 12 noon-1pm and 3-4pm; race on Sun 2 from 3:10pm
For Formula 1 enthusiasts it is a not-to-be-missed rendez-vouz, an outdoor happening to attend with friends, bringing - why-not? - a picnic. Striving for the Grand Prix at this
89th Gran Premio d'Italia will be some twenty cars from world renowned teams like Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren and Red Bull.
.:. The race-course itself is a monument to engineering - it was established in the 1920s - though its location in the middle of a park is a permanent source of controversy. Monza very often sees the highest speeds of the Formula 1 season. It was the scene of the
fastest ever lap by an F1 car, set in 2004 by Juan Pablo Montoya driving a Williams.
.:. While September 2 and 3 are for the
practices, the proper event is scheduled for Sunday 2. Online
tickets from the
circuit website.
.:. The track is located some 20 km from the center of Milan (trains to Monza or underground to Sesto FS + local buses).
