To complete its bicentennial celebrations, the Brera National Art Gallery is temporarily showing some of the paintings by Carlo Crivelli (Venice 1430/1435 - Ascoli Piceno 1490/1495) it originally owned. Although always perfect in their perspective, and often glittering with gold, Crivelli's works are as realistic as moving.
.:. Brera used to hold thirteen Crivellis, but several of them had gradually migrate elsewhere: to London, Berlin, Florence, Frankfurt, Montréal... In fact for a long time Crivelli - perhaps because his style cannot be easily defined either Gothic or Renaissance - passed nearly unnoticed among art historians.
.:. You'll find this exhibition while visiting the Brera National Gallery, in Rooms XX, XIX and XXII.
