times vary according to events; many at 12 noon and 9pm
A summer Milanese - well, obviously... - festival in its 17th edition, the Milanesiana offers a rich program of readings, concerts, meetings and films, developing this year's theme Vanity.
.:. The Nobel Prize writers Gao Xingjian (June 29) and John Coetzee (July 3 and 4) take part. Among Italians, Vittorio Sgarbi, Oliviero Toscani and a concert starring Arisa (July 14) are particularly worth mentioning.
.:. Beyond the Teatro Dal Verme, the Milanese venues include the Teatro Franco Parenti, the Spazio Oberdan, the Paolo Grassi hall of the Piccolo Teatro, the Antonia Jannone art gallery, and a bunch of public or private meeting places. Out-of-town events are scheduled at the Venaria Reale close to Turin (the Academy Award Nicola Piovani on July 1st, and the winner of the Pulitzer Prize Michael Cunningham on July 8) as well as in Florence.
.:. The events held at the Sala Buzzati (Via Balzan 3) of the Corriere della Sera daily newspaper headquarters should be reserved in advance by calling [+39] 02 87387707.
