.:. art / so many Russians!
December 12, 2017 through May 13, 2018
Tue-Sun 10am-7pm, Fri and Sat till 8pm

no slideshow .:. According to a widespread belief, the Russian art in the first years after the 1917 revolution was substantially avant-garde. Malevich, Rodchenko, Stepanova, Tatlin, Kandinsky or Archipenko were the names, and Suprematism, Constructivism or Futurism the mainstream trends.
.:. This exhibition, co-organized between Bologna and Saint Petersburg, shows that things were different. Nearly every European art movement was well known in early-19th-century Russia, and revolutionary artists practised all of them. Repin and Serov, for instance, were great figurative painters, and Chagall only slightly less realistic.
.:. Walking along such diverse artworks dispels a myth, and is a real pleasure. Pity that the place does not meet the standard.
