A highly civilized combination of classical music, collective theater, kids' social education, shared art and local government, the 12th edition of this festival lists eight events, involving not only the Piona Abbey but also the historic centers of Colico and Gravedona - the main villages in the northern Lake Como - and the Forte Montecchio, plus the Grumello castle close to the province capital of Sondrio.
.:. This year, particular stress is put on the WW1 centennial, with Igor Stravinsky's Histoire du Soldat (1918) providing the festival's focus. Both the FAI (Fondo Ambiente Italiano), a sort of domestic National Trust which runs Castello Grumello, and the Terre di Mezzo publishing house lend a hand.
