May 23 through September 1, 2014
10am-6pm, closed Tuesday and public holidays
Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli, the 19th-century founder of the museum, bought for his personal collections two exceptional Persian carpets from the 16th century. One of them, the so-called "Tiger" Carpet, is dated 1565 - when the Safavid dynasty ruled the country - and is considered one of the oldest signed carpets in the world.
.:. The "Tiger" Carpet has now been restored, and the general public can admire it again. To celebrate, more carpets of the sort, though less precious and incomplete, are also exhibited.
.:. These fabulous carpets were carried along by Persian kings when they travelled, so that even in the cold of winter, in barren lands and in the dark of the night, they could always have their own very private "Garden of Paradise" with themselves.
