In the Poldi Pezzoli museum home, the Collector's Room displays twenty silkscreens by Ugo Nespolo (Mosso, 1941), made for an artist's book entitled Il Numero d'oro. The works are inspired by the sectio aurea, or golden section, a nearly magical ideal of harmony and, mathematically speaking, an irrational constant approximated by the Fibonacci sequence.

Works by two masters of the Italian 20th century are temporarily exhibited vis-à-vis classic paintings of the Renaissance, the Baroque and the Settecento of the Brera permanent collection. Despite contrasts of style and time, seminal modern pieces like Lucio Fontana's Concetto spaziale of the 1950s and Alberto Burri's Cretto of the 1970s come to terms with Raphael and Piero della Francesca.
.:. Guest artists appear through the courtesy of Fondazione Palazzo Albizzini, Città di Castello, and Fondazione Lucio Fontana, Milan.

.:. design / the things Italians are **
march 27 2010 through february 27 2011
tel. [+39] 02 724341
"The things we are" could be the translation of the exhibition's title. More than eight hundreds Italian "things" - from colorful ceramic heads to vintage Alfa Romeo cars, from lamps to Murano glass, from perfumes to talking forks (yes!) - not only are the undisputable samples of Italian design or arts&crafts, they also represent individual stories. Each of these objects tells the tale of a person, of a talent, of creative skills. For those who don't belong to the Italian design crowd, some of these stories may be difficult to retrace. The result is anyway interesting, and very appealing.
.:. For the third edition of the Design Museum (a sort of annually rotating permanent collection) the Triennale called guru designer Alessandro Mendini to be its curator. You no longer come across sets of perfect pieces. You enter an unpredictable museum home.

since december 1st 2005
tel. [+39] 02 76394478
Sensibility and sensitivity are challenged by this journey in the dark, where your guides are blind and you too are "blind" for an hour. You walk through different settings and experience what the visually impaired go through in their everyday lives. It's pitch black: you automatically trust the person who takes you around and eventually share your emotions with him or her.
.:. Dialogo nel buio, a project devised and developed by the German Andreas Heinecke, is being taken to several countries and sets out to break the barriers of discrimination. The 'visit' must be booked.
.:. Since June 23 2010, you can also dine in the dark. On reservation only, 7:30pm, Euro 50.
