.:. festivals / music between the lines
June 9 through July 19, 2018
times vary according to events; many at 12 noon and 9pm
A summer Milanese - well, obviously... - festival in its 19th edition, the Milanesiana offers a rich program of
readings,
concerts, meetings and films, developing this year's theme
Fear and Courage.
.:. The Nobel Prize writer Gao
Xingjian (July 4) takes part, and so do Matthew
Dickman, Juan Octavio
Prenz and Adalberto Maria
Merli. Among Italians, Vittorio
Sgarbi, Emanuele
Severino, Remo
Bodei,
Giulio
Giorello and a concert starring the
Baustelle and Le Luci della Centrale Elettrica (June 26) are particularly worth mentioning.
.:. Beyond the Teatro Dal Verme, the Milanese
venues include the
Royal Palace, the
Spazio Oberdan, the Paolo Grassi hall of the Piccolo Teatro, the Antonia Jannone art gallery, and a bunch of public or private meeting places. Out-of-town events are scheduled at the Venaria Reale close to Turin (an exhibition of photographs by Luigi
Ghirri) as well as in Bormio, Florence, and Verbania.
.:. The festival is trendy enough. Reservations recommended.
