Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli, the founder of this illustrious
house museum which has served as a point of reference for other important museum-homes in Europe and the US (Frick Collection, Jacquemart-André, Wallace Collection, Isabella Stewart Gardner), came from one of Milan's oldest, most cultured and most well-endowed families. The Poldi Pezzoli collection was gradually gathered together in the building which still houses it today.
