Though his major exhibition currently on in Brescia happens at the same time as this by coincidence, 83 years old video art pioneer Fabrizio Plessi is certainly at the center of the art scene in Northern Italy today.
.:. In Milan, Plessi animates with golden-looking monitors a flotilla of geometric boats to fill the magical space of the Sala delle Cariatidi (Hall of the Caryatids), the former ballroom of the 18th-century Palazzo Reale (Royal Palace).
.:. Plessi's works are not technological as such. He is certainly an artist from the 20th century. Simply, he thinks of videos as sculptures, pictures or drawings. The matter is that this approach works.
