Cézanne/Renoir
March 19 through June 30, 2024
A century and a half has passed since the Impressionism movement began in France. Milan celebrates by exhibiting a remarkable series of representative paintings by Paul Cézanne and Pierre-Auguste Renoir, two leading painters from the time.
.:. More than fifty works are on loan from the Musée de l'Orangerie and the Musée d'Orsay, both in Paris, comparing the different directions the two artists took. Cézanne was careful for the composition and the energy of brushstrokes, while Renoir focused on harmony, atmospheres, and the way in which colors make forms. A pair of paintings by Pablo Picasso shows how the leaders influenced the following generation of artists.
.:. It's a typical great event in town, that the Milanese cultural authorities enthusiastically greet. The number of tickets purchased in advance has shown that it’s a shared interest.
