                      Giornate FAI d’Autunno
Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13, 2024

                      The
FAI (Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano) is a sort of National Trust of Italy, a private foundation allowing old mansions and buildings of historical importance - whose maintenance the owners can no longer afford - to be still open to the public.
.:. Every year since 1993, as a promotion for their activity, the FAI organizes the "Giornate FAI di Primavera" or FAI Spring Days, an open door weekend throughout Italy. Hundreds of
fascinating places otherwise closed to the public, or usually difficult to enter, can be
exceptionally visited. Similar Autumn Days have flanked the Spring ones for thirteen years now.
.:. In Milan, you can take the lift to the top floor of
Palazzo Lombardia this year, to see the city from above, and visit, among others, the
Palazzo Cusani (its main ceiling pictured) in the Brera district, the neoclassical Palazzina Appiani at the
Arena, and the
La Masa-Bovisa Campus of the Politecnico university. Entrance to some of the buildings may be restricted to FAI members, but you can get your membership at the moment.
.:. The
dedicated web pages provide a complete list of all open locations throughout Italy, though in Italian only.
