La Madonna di San Simone

The Madonna di San Simone by Federico Barocci (Urbino, 1533-1612), on loan from the National Gallery of the Marches, is temporarily displayed at Palazzo Marino. It's among the most important works by the artist, commissioned by the friars from the convent of Saint Francis in Urbino.
.:. The saint the painting takes its title from – the saw of his martyrdom in his hands – is the one at the left of the Virgin; on her right stands Saint Judas Thaddeus, an apostle.
.:. On December 7 the exhibition closes at 12 noon; on December 24 and 31, at 6pm; on December 8 and 26 and on January 1st and 6 at 8pm. On Christmas the exhibition is open from 2:30 to 6:30pm.
