More than kids
July 22 through November 2, 2025

It all started at the 2009 Venice Biennale, when a little girl drawn by Valerio Berruti (Alba, Piedmont, 1977) captured the attention, better yet or rather the love, of most visitors. Some, however, believe that it started many years before, as Berruti showed a penchant for drawing ever since he was a kid.
.:. The artist's style works by subtraction: we detect a shape from its outer edges. His humanity works by addition, instead: during the Covid pandemic Berruti, already a renowned artist, offered to sell any new drawings for three hundred Euros each to fund the local hospital. It took him months to fulfil his promise.
.:. The current exhibition is a large solo one, the first of this magnitude in Italy. Visitors fully realize that kids are not necessarily drawings: they may become statues, some of them enormous. The subtle disquieting feeling his kids generate can no longer be ignored.
