The Milan and Turin city authorities promote cultural links between the two main economic powerhouses of Italy's North West for the twentieth edition of their late summer festival. The theme is Harmony, this year. The series of thirty-one concerts scheduled In Milan starts with the Rai National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Simone Young, performing Benjamin Britten's War Requiem.
.:. Music performed includes all Quartets by Ludwig van Beethoven played by the La Scala String Quartet (pictured), and compositions by Claudio Monteverdi, Johann Sebastian Bach, Franz Joseph Haydn, Johannes Brahms, and Dmitri Shostakovich.
