Shilpa Gupta
September 14, 2026 through January 6, 2027
one picture only
.:. The works by Gupta (Mumbai, 1976) currently on show in Milan – care of Fondazione Furla – provide strong evidence of her will to talk to, communicate with and involve her audience. It's something like a
revelation. The world we all live in make us feel we are free to think independently and make up our minds, but it's a lie.
.:. Gupta shows us that the word "truth" can only be read through a
mirror, the word "hope" blows uncertainly in the wind, and display boards expected to inform us about our flight departure do nothing but whisper that our bodies are exhausted. It is not surprising that we forget to follow our prescriptions, and skip our pills.
.:. Other works by the artist are now on display at the Hamburger Banhof in Berlin, the last of a series of similar exhibitions held in some of the most outstanding museums and international art shows. Her works in Milan, however, share the rooms with Italian
masterpieces from the 19th century. Two reasons to visit.
