Dentro Caravaggio
September 29, 2017 through February 4, 2018
.:. Sixty-six years from the first landkmark exhibition of his works in his native town, Michelangelo Merisi aka Caravaggio (Milan 1571-Porto Ercole 1610) is back to the Royal Palace.
.:. It's a big event. Eighteen canvases never exhibited together before are displayed, on loan from prestigious museums like the Uffizi, Capodimonte, the Met, London's National Gallery, the Detroit Institute of Arts, and the Montserrat from Barcelona.
.:. Caravaggio's short career lasted enough to mark a shaky turning point in the history of Western painting - towards realism, naturalism, and the contrasts of light and shade.
