After you've seen a photograph by Luigi Ghirri (1943-1992), you immediately identify which one, if any, was shot by him in any exhibition of photographs you come across. It's something in his way of framing, or in his gamma values. It's Ghirri. Perhaps inexplicable, yet unmistakable.
.:. Basically, Ghirri pictured landscapes and details. While acting as a reporter during the shooting of a movie by his friend Gianni Celati (1937-2022), instead, he also portrayed people. Rarely individuals, anyway people. Unusual.
.:. The result of that activity, performed between 1989 and 1991, is meritoriously exhibited care of the City museum of contemporary art in Bologna, and is worth a trip.
