Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro
.:. On September 21, 2011, the Foundation announced that by the end of the year they were bound to close their premises, thus interrupting exhibitions in Via Solari, and limiting theirselves to smaller headquarters at Vicolo Lavandai 2/A. It's a pity, and clearly a result of the current recession.
.:. Only from October 12 through December 30, 2011 visitors were still able to walk, learn and enjoy on the three floors of this former industrial relic, brilliantly turned into an open-space art museum, the premises of a private foundation, set up by sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro himself.
.:. Pomodoro (born 1926, based in Milan since 1954) has produced a number of outdoor sculptures which you may have come across in Rome, Dublin, Darmstadt, New York, Washington, Indianapolis, Berkeley, Brisbane or Tehran.
.:. In Milan, there's a Sun by Pomodoro in Piazza Meda, midway between the Scala and Corso Vittorio Emanuele.
