slideshow .:. Enzo Mari (Novara, 1932-Milano, 2020) has been renowned worldwide since the seminal exhibition "Italy: The New Domestic Landscape" held at the MOMA, NY in 1972. You're very likely to have come across some of his calendars, ashtrays, chairs, tables or art prints, being instantly struck by their rigorous yet captivating no-frills style.
.:. What's extremely interesting in this exhibition -- organized while Mari was short to die -- is its radical refuse to display a series of elegant objects. Rather, it makes us perceive the wide range of Mari's approaches: from volcanoes to self-made, from wood to politics, from gooses to squares, invariably based on an iron methodology. To paraphrase Bertolt Brecht, Mari's products have always been simple things—so hard to achieve.
