XXIII Triennale di Milano
July 15, 2022 through January 8, 2023

more pictures .:. The name Triennale simply means that, beyond the customary crowd of temporary exhibitions, a major international theme event has been quite regularly organized every three years since 1923. The 22nd Triennale was incredibly timely and popular in 2019, with its accent on nature and "the nation of plants". This year the theme - Unknown Unknowns - may appear more disquieting, being subtitled as An Introduction to Mysteries.
.:. Yet hope is still the focus, Twenty-three countries are officially taking active part once again (an invitation to Russia has been withdrawn, by the way), and the historical avant-garde role of Italy is underlined by the pioneer Elea computer (pictured) designed by Olivetti in 1957 with interfaces by Ettore Sottsass Jr.
.:. Several other sections occupy the whole building. Besides the main exhibition and the national pavilions, find here La tradizione del nuovo (The tradition of the new, on Italian design), Mondo Reale (Real world) and the virtual reality exhibition 1923: Past Futures.
.:. The international exhibitions closed, as expected, on December 11, 2022. The announcement has been released, however, that the main exhibition, La tradizione del nuovo and Mondo Reale keep being available till January 8, 2023.
