Agosto
August 1st through 31, 2022
August is the month when most of the Milanese go on holiday. Signs saying
Chiuso per Ferie, closed for vacation, are posted almost everywhere, and things to do and see in town are few and far between. Assorted open-air spots - the
Sforza Castle among them - provide backdrops for concerts and
performances.
.:. The city is even more deserted around August 15, called
Ferragosto. When Ferragosto comes, as this year, around a weekend, even the diehards surrender and abandon Milan.
.:. Some notable exceptions. Through August, visitors enjoy nearly every day the 23rd edition of the
Triennale international exhibition, the
Torre Branca, the
Brera National Art Gallery, and the
Poldi Pezzoli museum. The
Gallerie d'Italia, too, are open in August -- and entrance is
free on August 7. Nights out may be spent at the
Base.
