                      ballo & ballo. fotografia e design a Milano 1956-2005
                      June 14 through November 3 2024

An immigrant from Sicily and the daughter of a photojournalist created something brand new in Milan after WW2. The study established by
Aldo Ballo (1928-1994) and
Marirosa Toscani (1931-2023) was based, even more than on their marriage, on the idea that the newborn world of Italian industrial design deserved a solid and lively visual image.
.:. The story is told through a hundred photographs and a series of iconic pieces from the Milanese production of the time, on loan from the
ADI Design Museum and the Collections of Applied Art of the Sforza Castle. There is no shortage of objects that belonged to the two photographers or magazines and books that the Ballo had contributed to.
.:. Art installations by a more recent sample of the Milanese creativity, that of
Studio Azzurro, masterfully recreate in the Sala Viscontea of the Castle a material memory of the couple and their work.
