Cinema Godard Screenings
October 4 through November 30, 2024
Fondazione Prada’s Cinema Godard program, curated by Paolo Moretti, investigates the universe of moving images through an articulated proposal of screenings, previews, and meetings with the leading personalities of contemporary cinema. The agenda follows different directions conceived as sections of an extended festival in constant evolution.
.:. #Anteprima brings films to Cinema Godard before they hit the Italian theaters. This month includes Bertrand Bonello’s The Beast, Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World by Romanian director Radu Jude and Jia Zhang-ke’s Caught by the Tides. In November, #Soggettiva is dedicated to the work of French director and screenwriter Bertrand Bonello, with his creative exploration of the mechanisms of contemporary society through different cinematic codes. #Supernova, focused on up-and-coming talents in contemporary cinema, makes a comeback with Real by director and documentary filmmaker Adele Tulli.
.:. #Studio explores the contamination between cinema and other visual languages through two appointments with the artist Diego Marcon, who returns to the Cinema Godard for the presentation of his latest works: Dolle, La Gola and Fritz, and with the film A Fidai Film by Aljafari. #Nocturna delves into genre cinema by offering Terrifier 3 by Damien Leone, The Beyond and City of the Living Dead by Lucio Fulci.
.:. #Queerelle explores contemporary queer cinema with the musical-documentary Reas, shot by Brazilian director Lola Arias in a female jail in Buenos Aires. #Sonic examines the many connections between music and the moving image by introducing the Oscar-winning director Jonathan Demme’s documentary film Stop Making Sense. The #RR retrospective continues to explore the work of the great Italian director Rossellini through a selection of recently restored movies.
