100 anni di Leica
April 7 through 13, 2025
Leica I (pictured), the first compact and lightweight camera with a
24x36 format on 35 mm film, entered the market in 1925 to revolutionize photography and make it part of everyday life. It allowed the birth of street photography, photojournalism and reportage. Leica has accompanied generations of people and great masters of the lens, such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Elliott Erwitt, Steve Mc Curry, Matt Stuart and Joel Meyerowitz.
.:. The centenary is celebrated almost everywhere in Europe, including
Wetzlar, the German city of the parent company. In Milan the celebration begins to coincide with the
Salone del Mobile and the Design Week, and continues throughout June with an exhibition/comparison of images taken by Gianni Berengo Gardin (Santa Margherita Ligure, 1930) and Roselena Ramistella (Gela, 1982).
.:. The gallery and the shop in Via Mengoni, right in the very center, are obviously open to the public before and after the centenary.
