Cinema Godard Screenings
through April 27, 2025
Fondazione Prada’s Cinema Godard program, curated by Paolo Moretti, investigates the complexity and plurality of both past and contemporary cinema through a rich calendar of screenings, previews, and meetings with prominent Italian and international figures.
.:. #Soggettiva chronicles the filmography of five-time Oscar-winning director Alfonso Cuarón. Renowned for his whirling sequence shots and his visionary mise-en-scène, Cuarón directed many acclaimed films, such as Y tu mamá también, Children of Men, Gravity, and Roma. In April, #Supernova features Swiss-Peruvian director Klaudia Reynicke with the preview of Reinas. #Studio hosts two special events with Invernomuto, an artistic duo founded by Simone Bertuzzi and Simone Trabucchi in 2003. On Saturday, 5 April, a program of short film retraces the artists’ work by exploring the fundamental themes of their research. The projection is followed by the presentation of their latest film, Paraflu (2025), co-directed with Michela De Mattei.
.:. #Nocturna introduces a double screening featuring Colin and Cameron Cairnes’ Late night with the devil and Damian McCarthy’s Oddity. #Querelle investigates contemporary queer cinema with the debut feature National Anthem by Luke Gilford, a utopian and alternative vision of New Mexico seen through a community of queer rodeo artists. #Sonic presents the screening of Adrian Maben’s Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLXXII. This documentary, dedicated to the legendary live performance by the British band in Pompeii, returns to the theater after more than fifty years in a restored version with a completely remastered audio.
.:. #A Kind of Language is the section dedicated to “A Kind of Language: Storyboards,” the exhibition on display at the Osservatorio until September 8, 2025. This month, four films whose preparatory materials are included in the exhibition will be featured: Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho, Steven Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind; Andrew Stanton’s and Lee Unkrich’s Finding Nemo, and Walt Disney Productions’s Pinocchio.
.:. #Classici rediscovers films that have shaped film history and the collective imagination in their restored versions. #Selezione brings together some of the most significant titles of the current film season.
