In order to fight any further diffusion of COVID-19, public and private meetings are strongly discouraged in all the country.
People must stay at home. A distance of a meter or so is kept in case of any personal encounters. Webcams have temporarily become the default communication tool.
Shops, bars, restaurants, museums, exhibitions, theaters, concert halls and cinemas are closed till Monday, April 13 at least; so are schools and universities. Supermarkets, pharmacies, tobacconists and computer shops are allowed to make exceptions to the rule. Sport events have been suspended at all. More official news here.

slideshow .:. An important show-cum-sale, MiArt is held in Milan's city trade quarter with an eye to making the general public more familiar with modern and contemporary art. The event, in which 186 Italian and foreign galleries are taking part, is complemented by Talks, conferences, meetings, and a series of events - the Art Week, with several galleries open till late - which take place around town from Tuesday, April 1st till Sunday, April 7. Art Night on Saturday 6.

There are an Established section for particularly trusted galleries, and an Emergent one for cutting edge professionals, plus Generations, comparing an artist of today (like Connors or Beshty) with one from yesterday (from D'Orazio to Balla), Decades, retracing the recent art history in Italy, and Object for design galleries.
.:. MiArt shares the leading role among contemporary art fairs in Italy with Artissima (in Turin, November) and Arte Fiera (in Bologna, January-February).
